This is the second report in our ‘Future of Freight’ Series. It focuses on how the four alternative, low-carbon energy systems for freight movement in Alberta stack up against the incumbent fossil diesel based energy system in terms of the efficiency of energy and dollar flows, the magnitude of greenhouse gas (GHG) and air emissions and the ‘fit for service’ to meet the needs of the freight sector.
Supplemental material for this report is available here.
December 12, 2019: Version 3 of this report has been released to correct typographical errors in the document and includes a revision to Figure 3.8. The Supplemental Material has also been updated. These revisions do not affect the conclusions of the study.
